Maidenhair tree
This section has been recently established as well and is situated next to the medicinal plants and close to the personnel's entrance.
The purpose of this section is mainly educational, presenting to the visitor the evolution of the plant species through the history of our globe.
The taxa exhibited here are classified in various plant groups, like:
- Bryophyta
- Pteridophyta
- Spermatophyta - Gymnospermae
(in the first flowerbed) - Spermatophyta - Angiospermae - Dicotyledones
(in the 2nd and 3rd flowerbeds) and - Spermatophyta - Angiospermae - Monocotyledones
(in the 4th and 5th flowerbeds).
Among the species in this section, visitors may observe the strange leaves of the «living fossil» Ginkgo biloba, one of the oldest known gymnosperms.
